Don't know anything about an Edward Gilbert but my grandmother's brother's second wife was a Gilbert widow with a child that he raised. This is what I know: Lindsey Thomas Wilmer (born July 8, 1884 and died April 8, 1962), was the son of William Wilmer and Frances Lee Nuckols [sic]. Lindsey one brother and five sisters. His brother, William died between the age of 10 and 15. His sisters were Annie Byrd Wilmer, Laura Vickie Wilmer, Tempy Wilmer Jennings, Emma Wilmer Warren and Maggie Wilmer. Annie Byrd married Ed Wilmer and they were my grandparents. Lindsey was married twice. His first wife was Carrie Huffman Wilmer, by whon he had two daughters, Pauline Wilmer More Jones and Lillian Wilmer Coleman. Carrie died from TB. Lindsey's second wife was, Darra Gilbert with whom he had six children: Lonzie (never married), Beulah Wilmer Shields), Margaret Wilmer Larry Mullens, Ruby died at 11 days old. Ila died at four months, Samuel Lewis died at two years old. Lindsey helped to raise Darra's daughter, Sadie Gilbert Nuckols. Ann Wilmer
