I wasn't sure where Clifford & Turkey Mt. were when I contacted you. Now I know. As you can tell from the info I gave you, there's a conflict of information as to where Jacob and Ruth Whitecotton are actually from. I even have one report stating Jacob was from Kentucky, not Ohio or Maryland. I remember coming across a Jacob Hudson who died in IN, about the right age for my ancestor. It might possibly explain why the younger children list the place of birth of their father differently from their older siblings. Maybe Ruth Whitecotton had remarried to another Hudson. Or maybe the younger children were not actually Jacob & Ruth's children. Maybe they were nephews & nieces. It seems there's a pattern in our line of Hudsons to take in other relations. I know that Corda took in her daughter's ( Lauvana), kids when she died, at least for a little while. I think Sarah "Emma" might have taken in Sampson's & Augusta's younger chi! ldren when Augusta died. I know my father stayed with an aunt & uncle when he first left home. It seems to have been a common practice back in those days, along with the same families intermarrying (i.e., brother & sister marrying another set of brother & sister). How sure are you that Jacob was from Maryland? And that he married Ruth Whitecotton? Earlier reports by Tara Painter and Richard Heckelsberg mentioned that he might have been married to Ruth Whitecox (?) instead of Ruth Whitecotton. Do you know of any indian heritage among Jacob's descendants/ancestors? Or Ruth Whitecotton's?
