Very passed away sometime before 1998. Vera was a daughter of Rushton M. ROWE and Orbie Brigette (HUDSON) ROWE. At that time Vera had the marriage record for Jacob and Ruth showing "Sept.17,1817", and she knew that her gr-gr-grandmother, Ruth WHITECOTTON, was born Sept.12, 1793, in Bull's Gap, Hawkins Co, TN, about 100 miles northeast of Knoxville, TN just off I-81. That area of Tennessee was heavily inhabited by Cherokee Indians, and from the sound of Ruth's family name, it would not surprise me if she was at least part Cherokee.Indian, but that is my speculation only. We have no other HUDSONs associated with Hawkins Co, or else I might have another clue to follow. Mrs.SUMANKSY (Vera) only knew that Jacob had come from Maryland and was born ca.1795. I would like very much to be able to go back earlier in Jacob's lineage, but there were several hundred HUDSONs all over the state of Maryland at that period. I suspect that Jacob was one of the folks who simply wanted to "move west", raise a family and settle. Hopefully we might be able to run across another descendant who may have more complete information about Jacob. Again, thank you for your valuable help on this HUDSON line. Regards, John W.
