I've been trying to locate Vera Rowe Sumansky's research work. I had been told her husband might have it, and just found out he died last year (?), according to Fay Stone. Fay Stone & I have been exchanging information this past week, & she has corrected some of the information I posted earlier. As soon as I get my own records updated, I'll let you know the corrections as well, although I think Fay may update it for me. I am getting really excited about finding all these new connections, especially all the answers to questions I have been asking for years! I've thought of joining the HFA before, but haven't been in the position of affording the dues yet. I also speculated about Ruth Whitecotton being of native american birth, due to her name. I've always wondered if the Hudson name could have been passed down through Henry Hudson's son, John. According to a biography I had read, Henry & John were set adrift on the west side of Hudson Bay. Many of the indian tribes used to adopt white children into their tribes, as well as some adults. Since their bodies were never recovered, & there were no graves, there's a good possibility that at least 1 of them may have survived & passed down the Hudson name through marriage to a native american, although most of the tribes use the maternal lineage system instead of paternal. I have been wondering for years now how the Choctaw chief, George Hudson, obtained his name. He was living in MO during the Civil War years, about the same time my gr. grandfather George R./W. Hudson was there. I know many indians took on the names of the white people who befriended them also. And then ther! e are all the Hudsons who came from England, also related to Henry Hudson. I know there are some Hudsons (some with the same names as George R. Hudson's relations) on the Cherokee rolls. So there are many ways that the Hudson name could be spread throughout the United States. Anyways, I will try to get my own info updated ASAP & let you know the changes! Thanks for all your help!
