I don't know if we've been in contact with each other before this or not. >From John's will we too learned that Elizabeth had Sophia before she married Cabell Wood in 1921 (thru whom our line descends) Strangely, John's will specifically mentions it that way. This seems to indicate that Sophia did NOT belong to Cabell - although the census reports taken after the marriage seem to indicate that Sophia lived with them early on. What do you make of John's will? Have you seen the court records after John's death where Elizabeth and Cabell file for benefits from John's service to the Contental Army? Did you find record of a marriage BEFORE Sophia's marriage to William Gowen. Hope you are conducive to sharing information!
