On Sat. afternoon July 18/2009, I had the opertunity to witness a group of 14 Senior Citizens of Nelson & Amherst Counties assemble in Lovingstion, Neldon County SEAT/Court House & relate their Experence's with the Re building Nelson County from one of Americas worst Natural Disaster of all time, <Disaster of altime> Because I am inclined to Doubt if Any other area of this size has any more Damage Than this small area. I made my first truck driving trip through Nelson County in 1949, There many more trips through the County until 1995, I was through Nelson County right after the Storm, seeing how awful it was. Regreatably My heasring is So that I could not Understand the wo rds from those 14 Wise Members of Nelson & Amherst County but Being there With My Younger Family Members was awsome from the word Go. Of the speaking Group, I only Had any Knowledge of CUZ Paul Saunders, & retired Va. Trooper ED Tinsley, Trooper Tinsley is Conn ected to my Sons Family, Trooper Tinsley's W ife is my sons wifes AUNT, Now a bit of Proof of The Distnguished Reti red Troopers Perfection< Please check Page 31 in the first Amherst Heritage Book for <TARA HALL> the trooper Built that From ground up BY HIS HAND. Now go to Page 236< marvin Edward Tinsley, That is My Grand Daughters Doll house. The reason: My knowing this much About ED Tinsley, I knew that his input into the rebuilding Nelson County, Va. was at the peak of Perfection and I feel sure that those other people relateing their memory were equel in their Contribution. I CUZ A T, was the ole geezer with the Straw hat, Glasses & Cane, at 83. I sat in AWE infront of so many eficent People, & wondered how Many of the Many attendies were Related to : Harveys, Lovings, Seays, Mitchell's, Mays, Cash, Hudson's & Campbell's, YEP they are some of my families that live in Nelson County. YA See Cousins I tried to get YA,LL out to witness Greatness YA shoulda seen those 14 great Men, Lifes evening sun is sinking LOW, But no group of people have people among them that desreve More respect for having done so much for OUR Nelson County VA SUPER well done Ya bunch of Fellow Virginians For the Young ones observe & never forget, And Pray that the likes of CAMIEL Never happens again CUZ A T <atpowelljr@aol.com>
