Mayo, III, Clerk Clerk Circuit Court Amherst County, VA Know all men by these presents [sic] that we William W. Clements & Seth Holloday are held and firmly bound unto William H. Cabell esquire the Governor or chief magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia and to his successors in office for the use of the said Commonwealth in the Sum of $150 to which payment well and truly to be said we bind ourselves our heirs ex____ ____ jointly and severally firmly by these presents [sic] sealed with our seals and dated this 30th day of October 1806. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas (?) there is a marriage intended shortly to be had and solemnized between the above bound W.W. Clements and Lettis Holloday — how (?) if there should be no legal cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue. Teste: S.
