    3. This found in Amherst County Historical Museum research room: Joseph F. CUNNINGHAM- is the eldest of twelve children of John R. and Mary F. (Davies) Cunningham, whose record has just been given. He was born in Amherst county, August 29, 1851, and in this county, August 30, 1859, was born Laura E. Rucker, who became his wife on the 23rd of October, 1876. Their children were born: Mary Rucker, September 28, 1877; Lelia V., March 16, 1879; John D., June 9, 1881; Joseph H., May 13, 1883. Daniel H. and Mariamna (Rucker) Rucker, residents of Amherst county, are the parents of Laura E., wife of Mr. Cunningham. Her paternal grandfather was William B. Rucker, and her maternal grandfather was James M. Rucker, the former of Amherst county, and the latter of Bedford county. Her great grandmother, Betsey McDaniel, nee Hobson, is now living in Bedford county. The war record for three generations of the ancestors of Mr. Cunningham is found in the sketch preceding this one, with other interesting family data. (Janet's note- I'll look next trip to get the preceding sketch for you from the booklet.) Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham have a group picture, destined to be a valuable family souvenir for the coming generations, in which five living generations of their family are represented. Mr. Cunningham was deputy treasurer of Amherst in 1881. He is farming, with postoffice address at Allwood, Amherst county, Virginia.
