Mary's story reminded me of an article I wrote once for Rural Living, the customer magazine of the MD-DE-VA Association of Electrical Cooperatives about "Shore" placenames. Most people enjoyed it but at least one person wrote the editor that he thought I was making fun of them! But we do have some peculiar pronunciations were I'm from down on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Visitors asking directions could use a lexicon. BTW: My Mom, Frances Wilmer, and I used to write a cooking coloumn for Rural Living. Do any list-members get the magazine? Ann
