Hi Barbara, In AMHERST COUNTY, VIRGINIA IN THE REVOLUTION, by Lenora Higginbotham Sweeny, there is a Francis Weathered who wanted to built a grist mill on Beaver Branch found in notes from court held 3 Jul 1775. In HISTORY OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY IN VIRGINIA, by Rev. Edgar Woods, Francis Weathered again mentioned with William Wood with whom he purchased land in 1778. Also in same book, there is a mention of Robert E. Withers who was nominated for governor by the Conservative Convention held May 7 (there is no specific year mentioned but last mention of a year in previous paragraph was 1868).
