    3. Karen, This reply to your query is being sent to the Wright and Amherst lists for their information as well. Although the parents of 1776 (year of death) Augustine Wright of Amherst County, Virginia, (place of death) have not as yet been identified, I can offer you some information on his possible brothers 1825 Achilles Wright of Oldham County, Kentucky, and Parmenos Wright and on his wife Alsey (Ball) (Wright) Edmunds. Amherst County D.B. C/104 dated in 1768 listed the wife of Augustine Wright as Alice. The will of Valentine Ball dated Jan 12, 1769, and probated on March 5, 1770, at Amherst County W.B. 1/155 listed his wife as Susanna and his daughter as Alice Wright. In Lynchburg Superior Court Chancery File 1486 relating to the estate of Augustine Wright his wife is listed as both Alce and Alice Wright. The marriage bond of Alse Wright and Samuel Edmonds was dated on Sep 22, 1777, at Amherst County. The will of Samuel Edunds dated Jan 8, 1812, listed his wife as Alcey Edmunds. On Dec 26, 1817, Alcy Edmunds gave her deposition that she was the widow of Augustine Wright and after his death married Samuel Edmunds. I think this identifies 1776 Augustine Wright's wife as Alice or Alsey (Ball) (Wright) Edmunds and her parents as Valentine and Susanna Ball. Some Southern Balls stated that Alice was born about 1737 at St. Margaret Parish, Caroline County, Virginia, from which her parents moved in 1743 to Henrico County and then in 1760 to Albemarle County in a part which became Amherst County. Parmenos or Menos Wright was probably a brother of Augustine Wright. Their lands were described as adjacent to each other. 1825 Achilles Wright of Oldham County, Kentucky, was also probably a brother of Augustine Wright. Achilles Wright was a deponent in Chancery File 1486 regarding the will of Augustine Wright and stated that Parmenos Wright was present at the signing of the will. Moses Hughes testified that Achilles Wright and Parmenos Wright were present at the signing of Augustine's will and that Parmenos applied to administer the estate of Augustine Wright. The common classical names and the various connections between Augustine, Achilles, and Parmenos Wright suggest a family relationship and probably brothers. However, further research will be required to confirm that identification. I would be happy to exchange information about this family with other interested researchers. Robert N.
