Is there anyone researching a Joel Mays who was married to an Elizabeth? I am trying to find the parents to my ggg grandfather. Shepherd H. MAYS/MAYES b. 1824 in VA. I found him in the 1850 Census of Amherst Co., VA. Above him was the family Joel Mays and wife Elizabeth and their children. His age would fit in with this family. He would be the oldest child. BUT I haven't found any proof that they were his parents. S.H. Mayes moved to MO. Any help would be appreciated. Robyn In Oregon
