Amherst Co. Will Book 1, Page 260 -- Guardian Bond -- Thomas Jopling and Jas. Nevil, April 4, 1774, for Thos. Jopling as guardian of Elizabeth Cox orphan of John Cox deceased. Book 1, Page 265 -- Guardian's Account from May, 1774, Recorded Oct. 3, 1774. Book 1, Page 436 -- Guardian's Account from 1774 -- Recorded Sept 7, 1778. I think this is the correct time frame for your Elizabeth Cox. Also Thomas Jopling and Jas. Nevil were in the part of Amherst Co. that became Nelson Co.(I Think) so this may give you another area to look into after 1807. On the subject of Amherst Marriage Records: The old Bonds have been in Richmond for filming for at least two years and who knows when they will get a copy back in the courthouse. However, there is a very good Index and the Bonds were copied to a ledger. The Library of Va. has on Microfilm marriages of Amherst Co. and I was able to get it on loan for 10 days. It covered most of the 1800's and was really terrific. I am sorry to say there is not much help for Genealogist visiting the Amherst Court House. I have long thought that a volunteer Genealogist would be a wonderful asset there. Becky Dawson Fox Amherst Virginian in Missouri --part1_db.63fd678.268fab27_boundary--
