In 1765 my William PHELPS owned 170 acres of land lying on both sides of Raven Creek of Buffalo River in Amherst County beginning at the mouth of a Branch on the south folk of Raven Creek running new lines (new Property) southwest. He purchased this from Dr. Wm. CABELL. as most folks did in that time period. In 1770 they sold it to James MARTIN, of Parish of St. Ann's, Albermarle Co., VA. I have also found a patent for John PHILLIPS in 1774 in Amherst Co. for 203 acres on the branches of Raven Creek of Buffaloe River. A very simular discription. Can you identify this John PHILLIPS? If so, please tell me about him. I am wondering if he was related to my William PHELPS. Thanks you. Mary
