Somehow I got a Kak worm virus. This is a new kind of bug that doesn't come from opening an attachment but is somehow scripted right into your e-mail so you need to be forewarned in case it has infected you, too. I found out I had it pretty quickly but, in case I corresponded with any of you in the meantime, I wanted to give you a heads up! Here is the site on Norton to help you to know what this is and how to stop it: http://www.sarc.com/ Click on the link that looks like this and it will tell you about your virus type. Wscript.KakWorm I also found this a helpful site: http://antivirus.about.com/compute/antivirus/library'blkak.htm as it provided me with step-by-step instructions on how to remove it. I have installed the Norton Anti-Virus which makes it relatively easy to clear the Kaw orm virus from your computer. I was able to clear it on my own but the Norton software helped me to make sure my entire system was clean. It was designed to attack a weakness in the Outlook Express email program, which I use, and there is a patch that you can download from Microsoft to prevent future infections. Go to tools then click on options and then click on signitures and turn off the automatic signature feature as this is how it spreads. But I wasn't using a sig file when it attacked me and it still spread It also goes through your windows program and sets a code to shut off you Windows on the first day of any month. To avoid that, you only have to change your calendar date to the 2nd day of the month to avoid the problem. You may want warn others what happened and all so they can check their systems.
