Hi to all- I'm new to this list. I am doing research in Amherst and Nelson Counties for several different sides of my and my husband's families. Right now one of the names I'm researching in Amherst is Magann/ Magan (It was later changed by my grandfather's time to McGann). Specifically Merrit(t) Magann and Sophia White married in Amherst- April 17, 1819. They moved to Nelson Co., VA sometime before the 1850 census, haven't found out much more yet. I know some of their children, I believe their William is my ancestor, but I don't have concrete proof. I have a little toddler that makes it difficult to get out and research in quiet places (!), so mostly I've been using the internet and mailing off for certificates and such. ANY info. on a Magann/ Magan/ McGann would be appreciated. Thank you, Janet
