Hello Fellow-Researchers, I have a Amherst Co., VA HARTLESS female: "Leanna" born between 1844 and 46 who mysteriously becomes a BURCH. I have thus far been unable to find a marriage license for Leanna and her male Burch husband (?). The census info I have viewed does not designate "single" or "widowed". She just appears on the 1850 and 1860 as a young HARTLESS girl, and then on the 1870 as a BURCH with three young boys ages 1 yr old to 6 yrs. old. The two youngest boys have been identified as belonging to the man Leanna later marries - when their names appear on his 1883 will - but the name of the oldest boy does not. He was apparently a "Burch" and DID use the BURCH name as an adult. Have any of you Amherst County BURCH researchers got any info on a marriage between one of your male BURCH members to a HARTLESS girl? If so, I would greatly appreciate cooresponding with you. We'd like to find a father for Leanna's son, William, born about 1864! Pam pamjt@saa.net
