Hello. I'm new to this list and looking for fellow researchers that may tie into my Bowling, Mitchell, and Haydon ties in Amherst county, VA. I'm especially interested in learning more about the ancestors of Harriet Ann Mitchell. I have an unverified birthdate of April 13, 1806 for her and speculate that her father was John Mitchell. I do not know who her mother was or if she had any siblings. I have a copy of an Amherst county marriage bond dated March 18, 1829 for Jarvis Hayden and Harry Ann Mitchell. It is signed Jarvis Haydon and John Mitchell (her father?) I also have a copy of an Amherst county guardianship paper that is dated December 17, 1855 making Abner Haydon and Richard Haden (signed Haydon) guardians of the orphaned children of Jarvis Haydon: Elizabeth H, William J, Alexander, and Margaret Haydon. Jarvis and Harriet Haydon's son, Alexander Haydon (born June 9, 1840) married Margaret Eudora Bowling (born April 16, 1848 daughter of J. J. Bowling and Lucy Jane Mitchell). Lucy Mitchell was the daughter of Leroy Mitchell (born abt 1797)and Sallie Harvie (born April 16, 1805). I would love to correspond with others who are researching these families! Debbie Ullom
