This is not my line but I have some copies I made from a little booklet called "Amherst County Families and History" compiled from Henry Hardesty's Historical and Geographical Encyclopaedia first published 1883 that may help you. On one of the pages I copied I have the beginning of a biographical sketch on Thomas N. Watts- sounds like the one you are looking for. To obtain a copy of the second page you'll have to contact the Amherst County Historical Museum http://members.aol.com/achmuseum/achmhis.htm and they'll send you a copy for a small fee. They may be also selling the book in the near future. Here's what I do have on him -wish I had the other page for you. Janet Thomas N. Watts- born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, August 10, 1843, was about seven years of age when his parents, Nelson S. and Lucinda C. (Ballard) Watts, made their home in Amherst county. His father died in this county, and his mother is still living here. Samuel Watts, his paternal grandfather, lived in Amherst county. Thomas N. Watts enlisted in Kirkpatrick's Battery, in 1862, and from his enlistment till the close of the war he was in every engagement of that battery except one. His wife had two brothers in the army, Robert and George W. Tomlinson. The former was killed at Chancellorsville in 1863. The wife of Mr. Watts is Emily F., daughter of Madison and Emeline (Watts) Tomlinson. She was born in Amherst county, February 8, 1844, and they were married in this county, January 9, 1867. Seven children have been born to them: Robert L., October 7, 1868; Thomas J., August 28, 1870; William V., February 6, 1873; Randolph Tucker, October 16, 1877; Cammie L., May 24, 1880; Infant, November 28, 1882, died unnamed; Samuel, November 29, 1883. Mrs. Watts' parents live in Amherst county, and her grandparents lived here. Her father's father was Ambrose Tomlinson and ....... here's where the page cuts off. Hope this is of some help to you.
