Hi Carol, Just a tidbit, possibly a clue even though the dates are early...there is a John Taylor and a William Carter, both from Amherst, both served in Revolutionary War, and both removed to Washington Co., Ky after war...this info from the book "Amherst county, Virginia in the Revolution...", by Lenora Higginbotham Sweeny.
