All part of my research last week while at the Jones Memorial Library in Lynchburg VA. Hoe it will help some of the Hartless researchers out there. Information obtained from Baily Fulton Davis, Amherst Co., Virginia, Courthouse Miniatures Marriage Data 1801-1854, (Amherst Courthouse, Virginia. 1965). The (numbers) indicates what page of the Marriage Register that Mr. Davis found his information. MR stands for Marriage Returns, a form that the pastor/priest was suppose to file with the courthouse. Sometimes it was filed and other times none were filed. On some of the listing Mr. Davis would list individual first and then the page number on others he would list page number first and than names, I will list page numbers first when available. See Benj. Hartly for more data. ( I could not find a Benj. Hartly listed under the H's. I didn't check to see if there was a listing under S. Rowsey. Could this be an earlier marriage for Benjamin Hartless?
