Thanks, Janet for this information, but how would we get an "official" copy of this publication? For instance, the James WHITE that you listed from Amherst who served in the French and Indian War is most likely my ancestor, but if I wanted to prove this service, I would need a copy of the publication, not a list from the internet. Thanks, again, as I know this is a lot of work. Julia French Wood In a message dated 07/28/2001 11:45:17 AM Central Daylight Time, jandm@lynchburg.net writes: > example). Ms. Watson made these copies from the original hand written list A. Brown made located at Swem Library. She had to search through boxes of his loose papers, so it's unlikely to be able to write to Swem for copies. You could try their website though and maybe they have a lookup for pay service- I don't know. As far as I know, no one has ever published this information, (but it sure would be a seller if there are any publishers on this list!) I'll be glad to mail you copies of the page you need on James WHITE along with the first few pages of the list in which Brown explains the list's layout and a little bit of early history. If anyone else would like a copy of the page referring to their ancestor, just e-mail me (off-list) your mailing address and I'll get to it as I can in the order received.
