    3. This man, James DINWIDDIE, b. 7-4-1788 (a great birthday date!) is a GxGF of mine. One reliable author (Jane Tyler Craig REICHLEIN, in her book, 'The Samuel GIVENS Family and Kin', pub. 1981) says his father was William DINWIDDIE and his mother was Agnes Unknown. William and Agnes were married in 1787, in Amherst Co., Va. Can anyone tell me the date of this wedding? Can anyone tell me who are the parents of this William DINWIDDIE (in the following generations, there are several William's!!), and the names of his grand-parents?? Jane R. says Agnes may have been a SIMPSON, as one surname, at some point in her life. She is buried in Shelby Co., KY, as the 'Widow Agnes SIMPSON', having died there in 1822. Hopefully, the names of her parents can be found! Who was Mr. SIMPSON? Perhaps a second husband?? The order of her names is: maiden surname not known; DINWIDDIE name possibly first marriage; SIMPSON name possibly second marriage, but not stated with any real certainty, other than the burial reference. Jane R., therefore, indicates much confusion as to this lady's various surnames, and how they actually occurred in her life!! I need help, here!! Two or three family group sheets would help --- one for her father's household (which would provide us with her maiden surname!), one for the DINWIDDIE household, and any others which apply to her!! Even a list of her known children, with dates of birth would be helpful!! James, the son, mentioned in the 'Subject' line, above, was married in Lincoln Co., Ky., on 4-11-1811, and his bride was Jane H. GIVENS. These two later moved to Franklin and/or Winchester Co(?)., TN (or Ky.?)., and, even later, to Greene Co., Tn., where James died 9-8-1841. Jane GIVENS DINWIDDIE died in 1869, and the conclusive place of her death is yet to be found. The GIVENS family of which Jane was a member spent a brief time in Mecklenberg Co., NC, before moving on to Kentucky. 1. Can anyone provide a clue to the facts concerning this William DINWIDDIE's parents? 2. Is the maiden surname of Agnes, his wife, known by anyone?? 3. Does any information exist concerning the implications of the name 'Simpson' in her life?? 4. Are the siblings of James to be found in Amherst Co. records, anywhere? Thank all of you, for looking at this query, and for any answers that you might provide!! Regards. Joe DUKE
