    1. [VAAMHERS-L] Early Settlers
    2. Dear Janet, I am sending this to the entire list because when I send it to your personal mailing address, it returns as "address unknown." I am sorry about this Rooters! Thank you so much for typing out all of these tithables!!  I found several of my ancestors on three of the lists and with your help I now know almost where they very living!  Before you posted this information I only knew that they were "of Albemarle County."  Now with your help, and that of the Bishop Rose's Diary, I believe they were located in what is now Nelson County.   If it is not too much trouble would it be possible for you to send me the attachment that Ms. Watson gave to you?  Do you have any other info from these papers?  I am eager to go down there to search them myself, but don't know when I can take the time. Thank you so much!  I told one of the archivists at the Lib. of VA  about these tithing lists and he was amazed!!  He had no idea that such a list even existed! Anne Bays (Richmond, Virginia)

    2. Dear Anne & other listers, Seems the virus I got was one "going the rounds" and the lady who sent it to me probably doesn't even know she did it. I have the entire list of 3,822 early settlers now with a bit of information on most of them (see below for example). Thanks to Brenda Watson & the Swem Library, A. Brown's list will be typed up and put on the internet, but till then I'll be happy to do lookups from my copies. Again, thanks to Swem Library's Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts (College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA) for permitting this information to be distributed on the mailing lists. Janet B.
