    3. Dear Robert & everyone else following - I think you may be onto something. It appears the marriage info from Charles Wright & Polly Eubank show something else that's got me pretty excited.... Mar. 2, 1808 Charles Wright & Polly Eubank, dt Ambros Charles Burton, Surety William S. Wright (April 22, 1812 - September 22, 1887), a known resident of Gilmer County in his latter years, named his first son Charles Wright....then named another son Ambrose Eubank Wright. The Gilmer County death register shows his birthplace as Amherst County...I can settle for Beford. Needless to say, BOTH Charles & Ambrose were "unusual" names around this area, and the combination "Ambrose Eubank" is definately cause for further investigation! Any chance anyone can do a lookup in case Charles had an estate listed a child or two ??? Thanks a million in advance! »§«·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.»§« Kristy Wright Edenfield mailto:kedenfield@sc.rr.com 397 Medway Drive Orangeburg, SC 29118 (803) 531-0119 -----Original Message----- From: Robert N Grant [mailto:RNGRANT@prodigy.net] Sent: June 05 2001 06:40 PM To: Kristy Edenfield Cc: VAAMHERS-L@rootsweb.com; rng Subject: Re: [VAAMHERS-L] I need some WRIGHT aid :-) Kristy, As a further follow up to your email, there was one Wright family that has similar names to yours and that family was William Wright, Sr. (Bedford County). William Wright Sr. was born before 1762 and probably before 1752, resided in Bedford County, Virginia, and had four identified children: 1. William Wright, Jr., born before Mar 26, 1767, and married Ann Neel or O'Neal on Mar 27, 1788, at Bedford County, Virginia, 2. Richard Wright, born before Aug 31, 1782, 3. Charles Wright, born after 1774 and before Jun 9, 1783, and married Polly Eubank on Mar 2, 1808, at Bedford County, Virginia, and 4. Jane (Wright) Waters, born probably before 1791 and married to John Waters on Dec 22, 1806, at Amherst County, Virginia. This family lived in northern Bedford County near the Amherst County border and a Charles Wright, possibly the same Charles as listed above, shows up in the Amherst County Personal Property Tax Lists in 1833 and thereafter. Jane (Wright) Waters and her husband John Waters moved to Hall County, Georgia, in about 1808. I noticed you are from South Carolina. The combination of names William, Charles, Eubank, and Richard in this family and their proximity to Amherst County suggested them as a possible connection and your William S. Wright might be a son of Charles Wright and Polly (Eubank) Wright. Let me know if any of this is of any help to you. Best wishes, Robert N. Grant

    3. Dear Kristy, There is no probate for this Charles Wright in Amherst or Bedford County. Charles Wright disappears from the Bedford County Personal Property Tax Lists in 1825. I suspect that he moved to a new location about that time. Since Gilmer County, West Virginia, was not formed until 1845, you may want to check its parent counties Kanawha and Lewis for records on this family. If you will send me your post office address, I will be happy to share what I have on the family of William Wright, Sr., and his son Charles Wright. I would much appreciate your doing the same for your William S. Wright. Best wishes, Robert N.
