Dawson, born about 1803-06 in Amherst or Nelson Co., VA, died 1865 in Clay Co., WV. Married Barbary Allen (14 Dec 1808-abt. 1833), daughter of William and Dolly Allen, in Nelson Co. on 1 Nov 1827. One child from this marriage, Richardson Henley Dawson, born 7 Aug 1828, died 1921. Alexander married Sarah Long (abt. 1822-1880), daughter of John & Elizabeth Sheetz Long, in Staunton, Augusta Co., VA, on 22 Mar 1837. Children from this marriage: Mary, Henry, John L., Wyatt, Josiah, Lewis, Margaret, Malinda. Alexander and Sarah moved to what is now Clay Co., WV, about 1839.
