This deed is located in the Amherst county courthouse: Deed Book G, pg 628 This Indenture made this Eighteenth day of Janaury Seventeen hundred an Ninety four between Archelus Mitchell Senior & Hannah, his wife of the county of Amherst of the one part & Thomas Moore of said county of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Archelus Mitchell Senr for & consideration of one hundred & forty pounds to him in hand paid by said Moore the receipt whereof I doth hereby Acknowledge & confess myself contented satisfied & paid hath Bargained & sold granted alined (?) encrossed (?) and confirmed unto the said Thomas Moore his heirs and assigns forever, & by these presents doth hereby Bargain sell grant Elien (?) encross (?) confirm & forever release unto him the said Thomas Moore his heirs & assigns forever, one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing by Estamation one hundred & ninety Eight Acres be the same more or less, laying & being in the County of Amherst on waters of Harris Creek adjoining the Lands of Thomas Powell Deceased Richard Shelton Joseph! Megann & the said Thomas Moore, it likewise being a Tract of Land which I purchased of Jeremiah Taylor, whereon my son John Mitchell now lives to have & to hold the said one hundred & ninety eight acres of Land with its appurtainanceses (?) to the only use to him the said Thomas Moore his Heirs & assigns forever, & the said Archelus Mitchell hereby covenants to warrent and defend the fee simple right (?) and title of the above mentioned one hundred & ninety eight Acres of Land with all & each of its appertainances(?) to the aforesaid Thomas Moore his Heirs & assigns forever, from the claim of himself & Hannah his wife from the claim and title of any other person or persons whatsoever, in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & date above written.
