Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amherst/10754 Surname: PHELPS, PECK, DUNKIN, CHAMBERLAIN, WATKINS, CONNER ------------------------- Your John Dunkin PECK interests me. I have two PHELPS sisters, both born after 1750 in Cumberland or Lunenburg Co., VA. They are the d/o Samuel PHELPS, who died in 1790 in Cumberland Co., VA. and his wife, Elizabeth CHAMBERLAIN. Mary Ann PHELPS married a PECK. In 1790 she inherited land from her father in Mecklenburg County, VA. (Previously CHAMBERLAIN land.) Elizabeth PHELPS married a DUNKIN and in 1790, Elizabeth DUNKIN inherited land from her father, Samuel, next to Charles CANNON (the county was not specified so it might have been in Cumberland Co., VA). It is very possible that one of Elizabeth PHELPS DUNKIN's daughters or granddaughters married a cousin,... one of Mary Ann PHELPS PECK's sons or grandsons. Thus you John Dunkin PECK. On 1 Jan. 1790, in Cumberland Co., VA - Samuel PHELPS and his daughter, Mary Ann PECK/PEAK signed for the marriage of Benjamin CONNER and Elizabeth ANDERSON. Testors: Mary CHAMBERLIN (Samuel's mother-in -law), and Samuel's daughter, Peggy WATKINS. I can't figure out how CONNER and ANDERSON fit in. ??? Please e-mail me and we can compare names of friends and acquaintances and locations in VA and KY and see if we can make a connection.
