I don't know very much about the CHRISTIAN family but I'm researching my MITCHELL family line from Amherst county. The Family History Center has a microfilm of the Amherst county order books from 1809-1831 (film id 1888566 Items 2-3) and it has a MITCHELL/CHRISTIAN case which may interest you. It appears to be an ongoing court battle to try to settle debts. On page 31 of the 1809 register: Dated September 24, 1809 - (debt of March 3, 1780) THOMAS MITCHELL, executor of WILLIAM MITCHELL (for GEORGE HIPPEN or maybe TIPPEN?) plantiff - against - CHARLES CHRISTIAN JUNIOR surviving defendant of CHARLES CHRISTIAN JR & CHARLES CHRISTIAN SR find for the plaintiff On page 32 of the 1809 register: Dated September 24, 1809 - (debt of March 21, 1786) THOMAS MITCHELL, executor of WILLIAM MITCHELL (for GEORGE HIPPEN or maybe TIPPEN?) plantiff - against - CHARLES CHRISTIAN JUNIOR surviving defendant of CHARLES CHRISTIAN JR & CHARLES CHRISTIAN SR find for the plaintiff On page 59 of the 1809 register: (another debt) THOMAS MITCHELL, executor of WILLIAM MITCHELL (for GEORGE HIPPEN or maybe TIPPEN?) plantiff - against - CHARLES CHRISTIAN JUNIOR surviving defendant of CHARLES CHRISTIAN JR & CHARLES CHRISTIAN SR postponed until the first day of next term --------------------------------- Could this by YOUR CHARLES CHRISTIAN? If so, it appears that he may have been the son of CHARLES CHRISTIAN, SR who died between 1780 and 1809. Of course, the CHARLES CHRISTIAN, SR may have been a brother of your JOHN CHRISTIAN and so two first-cousins could have shared the name CHARLES CHRISTIAN. Anyway... I thought you might like to know about the court cases. Best Wishes! Debbie
