I am looking for information about any Evans,Ray, or Alverson family before 1800. I believe several Evans families came to Amherst in the 1740's from the Eastern Shore of Va. and Md. These moves may have been in conjunction with a land patent issued to William Floyd. Specifically I am looking for the parents of my ggg-grandfather Elijah Evans. I suspect that his father is Benjamin Evans, listed on the 1783 Tax roll. Other Evans given names I am interested in are Arden, Mark, and Peter. I will be glad to share whatever I have. Bob Evans
