    3. You might be interested to know that there is a town called Lanham just east of Washington, DC on State Route 450 near New Carrollton in present day Prince George's County. I checked "The Placenames of Maryland: Their Origin & Meaning." Hamill Kenney, Museum and Library of the Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore. 1984. And found this: LANHAM, A village near Seabrook, Prince George's County. It is on Martenet's map, 1866. On p. 21 Farquahar mentions Aaron Lanham, one of the seventeen members of the first Montgomery Grand Jury, August 12, 1777. I cannot find the reference for Farquahar although I'm pretty certain he is one of the several gazetteers whose work Kenney consulted when making his compilation. Copies of Kenney's book would probably be available from many libraries in the area although in the reference section (not to be checked out). And you might be able to get some additional information (although probably for a fee) from the Maryland Historical Society's library in downtown Baltimore.
