They married in Nelson County Virginia in 1829 and she died before 1832. Jane Garrett was his third wife as far as I can tell. My family is descended from Martha M. Bell, his second wife. I am interested in identifying Jesse Lobban's parents. I am also trying to determine his date of death. I know that his daughters, Mary Eliza and Cora came to Drew County Arkansas to live with Martha's sister Winnie Stone in 1870, so he must have died before that and I can't find Jane Garrett Lobban in 1870 census in DeSoto County Mississippi, so maybe she died as well. Jesse Lobban has been a mystery to my family until this summer when I figured out he must be our relative. I am the great-granddaughter of the Zachary Taylor Prewitt and Cora Bell Lobban marriage, (Jesse Rowan Prewitt (1880-1941), Jesse Rowan Prewitt (1923-1998) Margaret E. Prewitt Garls, and I was always curious why we did not have information on Cora and Mary Eliza's family. We knew they were orphans from Mississippi who came to Drew Co. Arkansas. After I found Jesse in the 1850 and 1860 census, i tried to connect him to the Virginia Lobbans, especially the Nelson Co. Lobbans since he married Eliza Page in Nelson Co. I ,too, have spent hours in Ancestry.com and printing out information trying to find clues to his identity and his parents. I am familiar with William and Mary Massie, but never found a link to Jesse. Are you the Lobban with personal family tree? Do you have anymore info on Jesse's life in MS or can you direct me to a source. I know that Martha Bell Lobban is buried in the New Bethlehem cemetery, but find no record for Jesse. Perhaps Jane Garret buried him elsewhere. Also I didn't know I had a great-great uncle, James M. Lobban. We only knew about the two sisters. Thank you again. He was old to be fighting in the Civil War, but it is possible. Also do you know where he went after his first wife died (Eliza Page)? There is quite a gap between her death and his marriage to Martha M. Bell. I know the Bells were in Kentucky and Tennessee and Martha's brother Andrew is in DeSoto County as well as a sister. I can't find Jesse until he turns up in DeSoto County and marries Martha Bell. Also do you know where William goes after DeSoto County or does he die in the 1860s also?
