Author: chickenhawk1192004 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.amherst/1363.1.1.1.1.3.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello: I'm sorry for the late reply, but at the present time I am not in the states, and chances to check email's are very limited due to restrictions, you mentioned 3 brothers named ray immigrating in the late 1600's or early 1700's, that could be connected to the 5 sons of william ray from county down ireland, they are the augusta co va rhea family, their patriarch's were elder william ray and his brother archabald ray, I have some research that indicates fergus ray may have been one of them, there was a samuel, john, james, luke, william, with their brother joseph rhea immigrating later in life with his family....in research of my own ray line, we are native american some generations back (with proof)...to cut to the chase about the william ray who preformed the marriage, early in the 1790's there was a william ray in washington co va who was a justice of the peace and in charge of the tax district for washington co (area around old blackmore's fort) he may be who you ha! ve refered to, that william ray was born in 1743 on the west bank of the sasuquhanna river in bucks co penn (per his rev war pension app) he was a col in the north carolinia militia.......my line comes from amherst co va, my 3rd ggrandfather john watson ray was born there in abt 1770 and died in pike co ky on shelby cr in 1842, his father was said to be a william ray... some of this connects to you then there could be research I have that could help you, again, I may not be able to reply in a timely manner to restrictions.....sincerly yours bvt james ray Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
