Joseph and Jemima sold 300 acres both sides Lovelady Creek, Amherst County, to Elisha EVANS (possibly her father) in July 1804. Joseph provided surety for the marriage of his brother Murray to Elizabeth Roberts in 1797 in Amherst County. In January 1816, Joseph is recorded as obtaining property in Casey County, KY.

Ann Beth FREEMAN from Amherst County, VA. William and Ann may have moved to GA. but they stopped in SC and raised a family. I don't know where they died or are buried but I do know that their decendents are in the Sumter County, SC area. I have limited information on the Jones family but am willing to share what I have.

Janet, Hi, I am researching John Thompson and Judith Wills, we believe they were married in Amherst on 10 Sep 1791 and most of their children were born there ... My ggg gf was 6] Anderson T. Thompson and his siblings were 1] Elizabeth W., 4] John W., 8] Bartlett T., 5] Creed T., 7] Mary A., 2] James, 3] Charles B., there is a good possibility that Mary was first born, but then I will never know. We think the initials stand for W.= Wills, T= Taylor, B= Bartlett, A= Anderson, Armstrong or Arms. The Thompson family ended up in Botetourt Co., VA and John Thompson's will was probated in Jun 1822 and Anderson was almost of age, and Bartlett was to live with his mother. Anderson's son my gg gf, Dr. William Bartlett Thompson moved to TX between 1852 to 1855 from Botetourt Co., VA we think, then to join the Confederate Army during the War, being he was friends with Robert E. Hi Janet, Thanks for listing the marriage/birth records you found in the Amherst records. I am happy to say that you may have helped solve a mystery for me. In the photocopies of our WHITE family bible there is a reference that reads..."Grandmother was a Miss Hill [Jane Watts Hill Magann] & she doesn't know of but one sister...Uncle Pleasant, [Uncle] John, [Uncle] Joe...brothers of girl...go to see cousin Mary Butterworth...she is Uncle Pleasant's girl" So, is she the daughter of the Pleasant MAGANN who married Nancy WHITE? I have a Pleasant Gaines MAGANN but he was born about 1840 so the dates are off. I have a Mary MAGANN c1839...but her parents are Moses Hall MAGANN and Jane Watts MAGANN. I have a Nancy WHITE who was the daughter of my William WHITE (1788-1843)...don't have any spouse info for her though. Her older brother, Henry White (1822-1891) was appointed her guardian because William died before she was of age...that means she was probably born before 1827...and Henry's second wife was Eliza MAGANN.
