Most of the men were still living and the latest dates mentioned are 1880's/90's. The men's birthdates, parents, information on wives and children are included. I copied the following ones; if anyone is interested in any name I can type out the information and send it to the list. There were more- I can look for a surname next time I go if someone wishes. The men I have copies for: > >Robert M. BETHEL (married Izetta TURNER) > >Robert Meriwether BROWN, Jr (no wife listed) > >James William BURCH (married 1. Bettie A. TOMLIN then 2. Rhoda BURCH) > >Captain Abraham F. BURKS (got most of it- the end was on another page I didn't copy) (married Charity J. TOLER CAMDEN) > >Joseph F. CUNNINGHAM (married Laura E. RUCKER) > >Marshall R. 1. [VAAMHERS-L] Benjamin R. Willmer and Bradford T. Willmer
    2. J.B.
    3. Hi Ann Wilmer, I'm trying to organize my mess of papers and I found something I had found for you in the Amherst museum. I don't think I've already sent this out, if so just disregard. I found a little booklet of biographies on Amherst men apparently written no later than 1900 or so- several of the men or their children were still living and I believe they were soldiers in the Civil War. I haven't looked at the copies I made really good yet, but here's yours: Benjamin R. Willmer- is a son of Bradford Thomas Willmer, who was born in this county, and with six brothers served in the defense of Virginia in the war between the States. Of these seven brothers two were killed, one remained in Pennsylvania, and the other four were restored to their Virginia homes at the close of the conflict. The mother of Benjamin R. was born in Campbell county, her name before marriage Dorothy Margaret North, and she died August 20, 1881. Benjamin R. Willmer was born in Amherst county, January 8, 1858, and in this county his wedded life began, Bettie T. Tucker becoming his wife on the 14th of December, 1881. She was born in this county, June 25, 1863 (writing fuzzy may be 1853?) a daughter of Charles and Sarah E. (Christian) Tucker, who are residents here. John Bradley, born March 13, 1883, is the son of Benjamin R. Willmer and wife. Mr. Willmer is carrying on a farm of 380 acres in Temperance district, and his postoffice address at Sandidges, Amherst county, Virginia. Bradford T. Willmer- owner of three farms in Amherst county, containing over 600 acres of fine land, was born in this county, on the 14th of November, 1829. He was the son of Rueben Willmer, who died in 1878, and Sallie Willmer, who died in 1876. The first wife of Bradford T. Willmer was Dorothy North, born September 28, 1836, and she died June 30, 1881. She was the mother of his ten children, of whom the two oldest are deceased: John James, born September 6, 1855, died August 21, 1881; William T., born April 7, 1857, died October 8, 1864. The living children, all in Temperance district are: Benjamin T., born January 8, 1859; Ellen R., May 30, 1862; Lindsey J., September 28, 1864; Josiah, June 24, 1866; Mollie F., September 23, 1869; Henry B., May 30, 1872; Hutton V., August 29, 1875; Arthur, March 17, 1878. In Amherst county, January 11, 1883, Eliza C. Brockman became the wife of Bradford T. Willmer. She was born in Albermarle county, Virginia, December 12, 1851, a daughter of T.B. and Mary J. (Simms) Brockman, her father of native of Orange county, Virginia, and her mother of Albermarle. In April, 1862, Bradford T. Willmer enlisted in Company D, 19th Battalion Virginia Heavy Artillery, and after some service was discharged and re-enlisted in Company I, 19th Virginia Infantry, with wich company he gave faithful service to the cause of the South until the end of the struggle. He had six brothers in the service, of whom two, James and Lindsey, were killed. Sandidges, Amherst county, Virginia, is the postoffice address of Bradford T. Willmer.

    2. Jeannie
    3. I just wanted to take this time to apologize to everyone for how far behind I have fallen with the Archives. This has been one heck of a summer :) But it's been fun, just extremely busy. I have updated the WV counties with files recieved during July, so those are already online for you to see. I am now working on the Virginia Counties. The first update I do will be for files rcvd in July, so if you've sent a file in August, it won't be on this update. I need to finish one month before I begin on another. My youngest just started kindergarten and I haven't started back to work yet, so next week I plan to spend getting everything all caught up. Assuming nothing goes wrong, I should have time to get it all done. Thank you all for your patience with me :) Also, I have inherited three new counties in Virginia and will begin working on those web pages after I have finished my work on the counties I have pending files for. Those counties are Goochland, Henrico, and Hanover. So be thinking of anything that you'd like to submit for those counties and soon I'll be posting new files there as well. Thanks again for all of you who have supported me and the archives. I hope to be more prompt in the future :) Jeannie ************* Now Available: "The Descendants of John Thomas Clay, Jamestown Immigrant and son of Sir John Clay of Wales" Also available: "The Descendants of James Bailey & Lucy Simms" For more info: http://www.trellis.net/users/madamx

    1. [VAAMHERS-L] Beverly ROBINSON b. 1800 VA > IL > MO
    2. Beverly ROBINSON was born 15-Sep-1800. Various records show him born in Amherst, Campbell, Frederick or King William Counties, VA. He married Sarah Elizabeth TAYLOR on 11-Jul-1820 in Green Co., KY, and they moved to Newton Co., MO, in 1838. According to some histories, they may have lived in Morgan Co. IL, prior to moving to Missouri. At first I had his father as John Robinson, b. ca 1738-1739 in St. George, Spotsylvania Co., VA, but now believe it more likely that he was Col. Beverly Robinson, b. ca 1767 in King William Co., VA. Does anybody have any information of Beverly Robinson, where exactly he was born, and who his father was, and if he actually lived in Morgan Co., IL? As always, will be happy to share any info I have. John
