    1. [VAAMHERS-L] Busby Family of VA 1700's-1850
    2. Paula Dunklin
    3. Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amherst/621 Surname: Busby, Tinsley ------------------------- Grasping at straws here. Looking for anyone who might have information about ANY Busby/Busbey/Busbee, etc family who was living in VA during the 1700's to 1850's. Looking for parents of Mathew Busby, born ca 1780, who married Seluda Tinsley in 1803 Amherst Co, VA. It is believe Mathew and Seluda moved to KY around 1807. I can find them in the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Adair County, KY census but do not know where they lived in KY between 1807 to 1816. In 1816, Mathew bought 300 acres of land in KY on Sulphur Fork of the Green River. It is believed that their first two children, Milton and Tilford Busby were born in VA in 1804 and 1806. The other children are thought to have been born in unknown county/counties of KY. They are: David T. Busby, 1807 unknown Co, Perlina M Busby, 1812 unknown Co, Nancy T. Busby, 1815 unknown County. Only Edward, 1818 and Matilda before 1820 are thought to be born in Adair Co due to Mathew's land purchase in 1816. It was written in an article in the Falls County, TX Historical Society Book that Mathew's parents were John Busby and Margaret Patterson Busby of Hampshire Co, VA. I have been unable to connect him to this family. I still think it possible he might be the son of either William, James or Robert Busby who came to America with their older brother, the above John and Margaret Busby, and settled in Hampshire County in 1766. Can anyone help me find where this family was between 1807 and 1816? Can anyone help me find Mathew's parents? Anyone missing a Busby, born about 1780?

    3. I found an article on Ancestry.com that I believed might be helpful to some searchers so I attempted to to send it twice. My first attempt was to forward a webpage from Ancestry.com as I had forgotten the limitations of our server. My second attempt included a "translated" into plain text version but apparetnty I forgot to delete the the previous, coded version at the bottom so it was kicked back again. I'm not going to try to send it again but if anyone is interested in further information on voter registration records as a genealogical resource, just send me a note to my home address and I'll send the article directly to you. 2. Don Summers
    3. Hi! This is my first query to this list. I've just began to try to find the parents of my 3rd great grandfather, Thomas WALKER. He was born March 10, 1787 in Virginia and married Saluda Bailey, October 21, 1811 in Amherst Co. I believe Thomas was also born in Amherst, but don't have any proof to back it up. Between 1818 and 1821, he moved to Smith County, TN and later to Muhlenberg Co., KY. He and Saluda are buried in the Reynolds cemetery there. He had no sons to my knowledge. Any that may have been born also died between census'. He had the following daughters: Lucy Jane, Mary Susan (my 2nd great grandmother), Elizabeth, Cinderella R., and Saluda Ann. Any help with Walkers in the 1790/1800/1810 census that are candidates for Thomas father would be appreciated. Of course a cousin who has already worked this out would be wonderful. I have a significant file on the children and the parents of Saluda Bailey, Thomas' wife and willingly share my information.
