Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amherst/636 Surname: STATON ------------------------- I am looking for information such as the parents of Salina W. Staton, who was born in Amherst County on 25 Dec 1860. I know she had the following siblings: Amelia, Lucy,, Betty (Elizabeth?) and Nathan. Salina died in Cabell County, WV on 2 May 1937 and was the wife of Calvary M. Lunsford. I do not know when this family came to Cabell County but I'm hoping they might have appeared in the 1860 Amherst Co. Census. Can anyone tell me who her parents were and if there were any other siblings? Candie Freeman - Coordinator Cabell Co. WVGenWeb

    1. [VAAMHERS-L] Thomas Grissom
    2. Steve Roper
    3. I am seeking any kind person who might be able to help me with records of this man. He died in Amherst Co c 1810 and left a will. His wife I do not know. His sons were John, Thomas, Robert, and Charles. His daughters were Sally Grissom and Susannah WIllmore. He had a granddaughter Lundy or Lucinda Grissom, d/o Robert I am hoping to discover estate records showing the involvement of CHARLES, his son, who was one of the co-executors of his 1810 estate. I believe that CHARLES is the same man who appears in Warren Co TN in time to be listed on the 1812 tax list. I am hoping to locate a record proving this migration, such as a land deed or other estate record from his father's estate. Would also like to speak with anyone who might be researching any child of this family. Regina Roper

    2. J.B.
    3. I called the courthouse to see if the old marriage bonds were back yet from being copied and they still aren't (what's it been- two years?!) However, the lady said you can send them $2.00 per bond and they will try to obtain a copy of it for you. Checks made out to Clerk of Circuit Court, P.O. Box 462, Amherst, VA 24521. Just send them the names and date. I forgot to ask about enclosing a self-addressed stamped envelope, but I always send one when in doubt and I plan to in this case. I doubt they will do searches for you if you don't have all of the information- they're nice and helpful, but it's a very busy office. Janet B.
