    3. Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amherst/10743 Surname: HARTLESS ------------------------- Marlene, The Benjamin Hartless that I believe to be my gg grandmother's first husband, is probably the son of Nancy Staton and William Hartless. That is unconfirmed as there appear to be about 4 Benjamin's around during that time. William and Nancy did not have any children named Eli or Levi and there was a Nancy Hartless born in 1805 that married an Elias Martin, but again no children named Eli or Levi. There also was a Nancy Hartless born about 1780 that married a William Wilson, but I do not have a list of their children.

    3. Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Amherst/10741 Surname: Morris, Jones, Simmons, Waters, Wright ------------------------- Elizabeth Wright Morris Jones' mother has been identified as Christianna Simmons, who married William Morris in 1793 in Amherst County. Christiana's mother was Mary Waters and her father was James S. Simmons. There is probably a connection between Mary Waters and my ancestor John Waters (son of Francis Waters) and his wife Anna Wright. In my research on the Waters family, I do not find that Francis had a daughter named Mary. Since I do not know anything beyond Francis Waters, it is possible that Mary was his niece or other relative. Any help would be appreciated! I know the family went to Rutherford County, NC (father James Simmons died there). My Christianna and her husband apparently went to South Carolina (MAYBE Spartanburg County, but I'm not sure) and then on to Hall County, GA by the late 1820's. Would love to swap what I've got with you. Link: Debbie Stuart's Genealogy Home Page URL: <http://members.aol.com/dstuart101/homepage.html>

    2. Debbie Ullom
    3. Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amherst/10738 Surname: CHRISTIAN, MITCHELL ------------------------- Hello. I don't know very much about the CHRISTIAN family but I'm researching my MITCHELL family line from Amherst county. The Family History Center has a microfilm of the Amherst county order books from 1809-1831 (film id 1888566 Items 2-3) and it has a MITCHELL/CHRISTIAN case which may interest you. It appears to be an ongoing court battle to try to settle debts. On page 31 of the 1809 register: Dated September 24, 1809 - (debt of March 3, 1780) THOMAS MITCHELL, executor of WILLIAM MITCHELL (for GEORGE HIPPEN or maybe TIPPEN?) plantiff - against - CHARLES CHRISTIAN JUNIOR surviving defendant of CHARLES CHRISTIAN JR & CHARLES CHRISTIAN SR find for the plaintiff On page 32 of the 1809 register: Dated September 24, 1809 - (debt of March 21, 1786) THOMAS MITCHELL, executor of WILLIAM MITCHELL (for GEORGE HIPPEN or maybe TIPPEN?) plantiff - against - CHARLES CHRISTIAN JUNIOR surviving defendant of CHARLES CHRISTIAN JR & CHARLES CHRISTIAN SR find for the plaintiff On page 59 of the 1809 register: (another debt) THOMAS MITCHELL, executor of WILLIAM MITCHELL (for GEORGE HIPPEN or maybe TIPPEN?) plantiff - against - CHARLES CHRISTIAN JUNIOR surviving defendant of CHARLES CHRISTIAN JR & CHARLES CHRISTIAN SR postponed until the first day of next term --------------------------------- Could this by YOUR CHARLES CHRISTIAN? If so, it appears that he may have been the son of CHARLES CHRISTIAN, SR who died between 1780 and 1809. Of course, the CHARLES CHRISTIAN, SR may have been a brother of your JOHN CHRISTIAN and so two first-cousins could have shared the name CHARLES CHRISTIAN. Anyway... I thought you might like to know about the court cases. Best Wishes! Debbie

    2. To the list; Well, we found a match ... I had a Heim kinship from Amherst Co., VA offering to do lookups there. She found a Thompson descendant that left her address in there in 1994. So, with a possibilty, from this info I went on the internet to the US Postal Service (USPS) and typed in the zip code, and found this was outside of Dallas, TX. So, then, I get on the phone as asked information if they had any Reed's in this town. Sure they had one, so information gave me the number. I called and asked the woman that answered some questions and sure nuff we are related through John Thompson and Judith Wills of Amherst County, VA, which this being her ggg and my gggg grandparents. We exchanged information, her and me through US mail and E-mail. We both had information the other did not, so this was a blessing. I had her ancestor coming to Sabine Co., TX in 1835 with the Eubank family (now, she can join the Daughters of the Republic of Texas), and she had Bible, Bounty Land Cert. of James Wills/ James Thompson, the Will of Creed T. Thompson, Death Cert. of Judith Wills Thompson records. Our ggg /gggg gf's were brothers ... Thank all of you that have helped finding our ancestors/match ... Elizabeth Reed and I will be meeting next week in Gonzales or Houston, TX if time permits. Sissy Hime Norris San Antonio, TX
