Posted on: Amherst County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amherst/10833 Surname: LYON, THURMAN, McALEXANDER, ISON, TAYLOR ------------------------- Maureen: I just saw this message. In addition to the material that I already sent you by email -- The Jane LYON who married Samuel ANDERSON was a daughter of John and Jean LYON and a sister of the William LYON who married Frances THURMOND. You'll find the ANDERSONs mentioned in John LYON's will. I have done no original research beyond John LYON. His parents are said to have been John LYON and Mary MARTIN of Dorchester, Md.; his grandparents, John and Margery (?) LION. John LION was supposedly born ca 1649 in Scotland. John and Margery emigrated to Maryland by 1673 when they are mentioned in the Land Patents. I've never heard of a French connection, but of course it's possible. Mary
