    1. Fw: [VAAMHERS] Fw: Yours to me
    2. Tony Johnson
    3. Hi Betty Mary Box Lived right beside William Hatcher the Immigrant born 1613, who I also descend from. I also Descend from Col. Arthur Allen and wife ? Tucker of Bacon's Castle: Which have a Robert Jonson-Johnson connected to them. The Box lines in Humphreys and Williamson County Tn. descend from this Col. Arhtur Allen and wife. ? Tucker ( I am going from memory right now with names to expidite by replies.) Just a Note on Dawson- Dodson- Dotson, Dods , this name was recorded as it was sounded out by the County register who could have been English, Irsih, Scottish, German or Dutch. I can send you a Copy of or Johnson surname research for Amherst County to view. if you can give me the name of the Dawson that you are researching and a time period. I will see what we can do. Reason the Dodson-Dotson and some times recorded as Dawson connect to MY Johnson researchers of Hudson Johnson of Henry Co. Va. 1776- 1780; Then into Washington County 1782 to 1801, this lands goes into Green County Tn, then To Sullivan County Tn to present day Hawkins County Tn.: in 1801 he goes into what was then Williamson County Tn. He he in 1803 buys lands on Bartons Creek in Stewart County which in days becomes Dickson Co. Tn. Hudson Johnson and wife Agness son John Johnson died 1835 is married to an Anne born 1770 in Virginia she is the Aunt to numerous Dodson's in Humphreys County in 1850 era. In 1850 She has her neice a ? Dodson living on her property with a ? Burgess in the house born in 1772. I am stuck on my John B. Patrick Line married to Mary "Polly" Hudson b 1812 in what was then Sumner Co. Tn. John B. Patrick was born in 1805 NC per 1850 Census of Humphreys Co. Tn, but a Goodspeed History of Humphreys County Tn written in 1880 by his Grandson has him from Natchez Mississippi. WEll what is intersting is Adam Brevard Hudson lived in Sumner County Tn with his brother John Hudson. Adam B. Hudson lost his lands in a Law suit to another of his Cousin's. He Moved to the area of Natches Miss. where he died after 1830. This is who I beleive is the Father of Mary Hudson married to John B.Patrick who lived by the Box, Ezekeil Hudson (of Box Iron Maryland and a acousin to Adam B. Hudson). I do know John B. Patrick had a brother James Henderson Patrick. who also went by Henderson Patrick. They arrived in 1825-1830 in Humphreys County Tn, from unknown where and built a home in ? City in Humphreys County Tn. Johnston and Wake County is very intersting to be, reason General James Randolph Robertson a William Hatcher decendant is the Founder of the Washugual Settlements. who lived on Barton's Creek in Dickson County Tn. by my Hudson Johnson-Johnston and wife Agness. Hudson Johnston in 1782 bought his lands from Stockley Donelson son of Col. John Donelson the Co Founder of the Washugual Settlement with General James Randolph Robertson General James Randolph Robertson is widely associated with families in Wake County and Johnston Co. NC and his Father John Robinson- Robertson is assoicated with families in Warren County NC which was also in Butte Co. NC. Before that he is in lands in era of 1720 Prince George that become Brunswick County Va. thanks Tony PLease contact me at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> and I will send you files on the James Randolph Robertson and on the Johnson familiess of Amherst County you might find a few clues in them on Dawson, also send me the info on the Dawson and the time era and I will see if anything crosses in our files ----- Original Message ----- From: Betty Stokes<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, May 17, 2006 4:22 PM Subject: RE: [VAAMHERS] Fw: Yours to me Box is an allied line and Patrick and Allen are direct lines. 3. Yes we do, have a little info on these Ballingers: Nancy B, is one of these descendants ( I think) or is closely connected to the Wades in our Johnson=Johnston- Jonson etc discussions. From Memeory he is also listed as Pierce Wade I am sending Nancy a CC to her as this is her Lines. I will send you all our Numerous Researches info on Johnson files that have a mention of a Ballinger or Ballenger in them. Amherst is a multi division County with some of its Starts in Goochland County tell 1735 era. some of its lands is found in Orange County Deeds ( Rockfish Gap and Rock Fish River). Also Of Note what was Amherst County changes in 1810 and becomes Nelson Co. Also Remember these folks traveled as a Clan until after the Civil War in 1865. I have 7 lines on Byrd Creek and Little Byrd Creek which also connects to the drainage of Tuckahoe Creek, where we finf the DNA that I match of Michael Johnson died 1718. These 7 Families can be found in 1930 on Hurricane Creek of Humphreys County Tn still inter marrying each other. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 15, 2006 1:05 AM Subject: [VAAMHERS] subj change from BURKS to PEARCE and BALLENGER Hi, Tony. Yes, I am aware our Ballengers touch on your Johnson/Matlock lines; I have gratefully downloaded most of the land records which you have posted, and I believe you give credit for some of that to a Linda Starr? Many thanks to both of you. Anything you have related to the Ballengers would be most welcome, and perhaps you might have something on their associated family WADE, bros Pearce and Jeremiah marrying two of the Rev. Joseph Ballenger Sr's daughters in Goochland Co, Pearce ending up in Amherst. Do you know the present location of Ballenger's Mountain? There are still two Ballenger's Creeks on modern maps, one coming from the NW into the James River at Warren near Scottsville, and the other (Apparently originally Bird/Bryd's Creek) flowing into the Rivanna River (or 'north fork of James') just below Palmyra in present day Fluvanna, in Goochland in 1729 land record for Joseph Sr. Thanks for your response to our postings, although I don't think Brenda has ties to the Ballengers. 3. I do have several names, etc. My gggrandfather was SAMUEL ELLIS(Elias)MARTIN. born abt. 1824 in Amherst Co. I am not sure of his parents or siblings. I think they may be William E. Martin and Tinsy Lawhorn(e), from research of county records. SE is in a few land records, paid taxes, but never any reference to family members.. SE Martin lived in Amherst Co, until the late 1860's when he moved with his family to Rockbridge Co, around Lexington. He fought with Amherst Co., in the War Between the States. He is HOH in the 1850 census, living with Nancy Hartlesss, however, VA. records show they did not marry unitl 1860. He had several daughters, off the top of my head this A.M., 8, but only one son, William Ellis Martin. born abt 1846-49 in Amherst. William married first Lucy Lawhorn(e), daughter of William and Cassandria, in Amherst Co., and had at least 6 children, including my grandfather, James William Martin. About 1885 he married Nancy Cash, in Amherst Co., but he was in later Rockbridge Co. census records. They had 7 or 8 more children. SE Martin died in March of 1904. W.E. Martin died in 1932, both in or around Lexington, VA. I do have the names of their children should anyone be interested. I do think that due to circumstances, distance, etc., many of these families didn't know of each other. I have found one relative in Lexington who had no idea that her grandfather had any brothers. Regards, Phyllis

    2. Phyllis, My name is Flournoy English, Mechanicsburg, PA., and I descend from Elizabeth Martin, the daughter of John and Millie Rucker Martin from Amherst County, Virginia. Elzabeth Martin was born in Amherst County Abt 1754/1755. She married William Angus Abt 1774 (depending on the researcher). I may be able to help you, but you need to be more specific as to whom you are trying to find by furnishing names, date of birth/where born, and when/where died. You may contact me direct at [email protected] Best regards, Flournoy English
