Hello - My Thompson family was in Amherst Co. at one time. Also Albermarle, Monroe, Goochland, Louisa and possibly Nelson. James Thompson was a Rev. War veteran - m. Temperance 'Tempe' Mooney, came to Union Co., OH ca 1816. I have a small genealogy on this family. Would like to correspond further with any cousins back in Virginia. James had a son, Lucas P Thompson, DOB 1803. His grandson, LP Thompson, Jr. was born in 1833. LPT Jr. had a brother George W Thompson, DOB 1839, who was killed at 1st Manassas in July 1861. His son, George W Thompson, Jr. was born a few months after his fathers death. I have been unable to trace him thereafter. I find James listed in the 1850 cenus living with Lucas Sr., age 82. I would like to confirm he is Lucas' father or maybe Uncle, and find out more about his wife and father, siblings? They all lived in the Sandidges area of Amherst County. Hope this clears things up! From what you posted, James Thompson would have been about 65 years when Lucas Thompson was born. While it is true that some men had "twilight year" infants, it would be more likely that Lucas was the grandson of James, or that his birthyear is wrong. Also, if George W. Thompson, Jr. was b. in 1861, who is George W. Thompson, Sr. and what is his relationship to Lucas?

George Phillips, and Jacob Phillips. I am a descendant of most of the Phillips shown above. Our volunteer researchers are hoping to find information on other descendants of these men using both DNA testing and traditional research. My brother participated in this project and confirmed that Matthew and Zacharias Phillips were either brothers or close cousins. We believe Leonard Phillips, Sr., was Matthew's father and William Phillips was Matthew Phillips' great grandfather (Matthew Phillips is my 3x great grandfather). Rootsweb has a policy of moving messages with topics like DNA to a special forum. Therefore, we hope you will visit this forum to review a new announcement of the DNA Project for descendants of Phillips immigrants. This is the link for that forum: <http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=topics.dnaresearch.projectannouncements> or you can get to the DNA forum by going to Rootsweb>Topics>Browse Topics> DNA Research. This new forum is the place to go for more information on DNA. Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and we hope you will visit the DNA Topic site for more information.
