He was patented land in Amelia Co in 1737 about 232 acres. There are numerous deeds and titheable lists which mention him and Joseph, his son, and---Francis, his son, Joseph's brother. Francis was about 7 years older than Joseph and there may have been a daughter, also. I found the titheable lists in "The Southside Virginian" a genealogical publication--October 1982 Volume 1 No 1, April 1990 Volume 8 No 2 and July-September 1995 Volume 13 No 3. The lists name the head of household and any sons between 16 and 21 and give the approx. location of the family's land. When the sons turned 21 years of age they were listed separately.
