    2. As one can see...I am a Tabb..born in Iowa 1924--father, James R Tabb, born in Ky in 1890...his father was George Miles Tabb..date of birth/death uncertain, but died in the 1930's amd was probably in his 70's...don't know the names of earlier Tabbs. My point is that now I live in Virginia...incidently on a street called Bolling Ave..where can I fit in to all the Tabb info on this and other geneology sites...I don't want to get into the geneology businss but would like to get a straight line--down from all the info on the net--to myself..

    1. [VAAMELIA-L] Chapman's of Amelia Co, VA

    3. Hello All, I'm new to the list and wanted to post my information. I am researching the Chapman's of Amelia Co, VA, specifically of the Deatonville and/or Leigh Township area. My oldest ancestor Samuel Chapman b. abt 1700 - d. 1773, bought 400 acres of land beside Sandy Creek in Amelia Co, in 1752. Samuel deeded this land to his son John about 1765. John's son Benjamin was the executor of John's will in 1816 and it seems that Benjamin and his family stayed on the homeplace although John's will stated that the land was to go to his youngest son Jonathan when he arrives to the age of 21. From a book that was published in 1909 Benjamin's granddaughter Lucy Chapman Davis, wife of A.T. Davis, was still living on part of the original homeplace. This homeplace was approximately 3 1/2 miles north of Deatonville. Lucy had only one child Edith who was 18 years old in 1909. I would like to find out if any of Edith's descendants still live on the homeplace? I am descended from John's son James who left Amelia Co. about 1790, but I am working on all branches of this Chapman family. I was also wondering if there are any cemetery records available for the Deatonville area? If these records are not copyrighted I would be willing to put them in a database to be included on the Amelia Co. homepage in exchange for getting a copy of them. Thanks for you assistance.
