    1. [VAAMELIA-L] Bookers in Amelia/Website
    2. Hello everyone, I have several Bookers marrying my many greats aunts and uncles. I deleted the earlier post with Edward Booker and Mary Bentley. Mary was my gggg grandmother Rachel Bentley's sister. Rachel married John Hyde Saunders Jr. and they lived in Powhatan. After he died in 1817, Rachel moved to Raleigh NC, where I believe one of her other siblings lived. Don Booker has an extensive website, with information about the Bookers in Amelia, who he traces to Gloucester Co VA. He also responds to any questions about his website promptly, so might be able to help on the Overstreet issue. It is here: http://www.equinegraphix.com/booker/ My direct Amelia names are Baugh, Wash/Walsh, Eggleston, Clough, Bentley, Saunders, Weldon (?), Shelton, Coleman, Robertson, Shepard, maybe Beuford/Buford. The collateral lines comprise pretty much the rest of the surnames in the 1700s there! My best, Janet (Baugh) Hunter

There were connections between the Pillow family and the Richard Booker family in Essex Co. I have been told by a modern Pillow descendant in Virginia that Pillow and Booker descendants are still intermarrying in Virginia. Some of the Amelia Co. Pillows adopted the spelling "Piller." The book A melia County, Virginia, Marriage Bonds, Consents, & Ministers Returns, 1816 - 1852, by Thomas P. Hughes, Jr., pub. 4140 Chanwil Ave. Memphis, TN 38117, p. 35 lists a marriage on January 17, 1843: PILLER, James M. & Martha A. BOOKER. Joseph A. Scott, Sec. Can you identify the parent and grandparents of this Martha A. Booker? Thanks, Cleve Weathers Nashville

My data relate to Phillip Ludwell, Phillip Ludwell II, and Phillip Ludwell III of England and Virginia. Phillip Ludwell III had no sons and the family name expired with him prior to 1740. Phillip the first immigrated from England prior to 1650. He was the son of Thomas Ludwell and Jane Cottington. It is highly probable that James Ludwell was a descendant of the same British family at a later time. The Ludwell family is listed in the IGI. Re Amelia County, Va.
