Posted on: Amelia County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amelia/528 Surname: ------------------------- The Nottoway County marriage records from 1780's when the county was formed to just before the Civil war were burned in a horse trough in front of the courthouse when federal troops galloped through chasing Lee to Appomattox. Only a few records were reconstructed from before the civil war and those are very few dating from 1846 and after until after 1867 whne the set becomes complete again. you will have to hope they married in Amelia, but if they lived south of the county border you are out of luck.

Any help in locating any records about this family will be appreciated. I believe that they are my ggggggrandparents.
