Hi, I'm new to the list and thought I'd throw the surnames (also other variations) I'm researching out there for anyone who might be researching the same names... Yates, Sollers, Hosinger, Spitzer, Cowan, Beaver/Beiber, Miller, Strickler, Lemmon/Lehman, Martz, Phillips, Armentrout...and more. I will post specific queries later. Feel free to contact me if you share any of these names. Thanks! To everyone, Bunny and I would like to take this time to say "Thank You!!" for all your kind comments and for visiting our website. In 4 short and very busy months we have tried our best to help provide valuable records for those individuals researching their early Virginia roots. This is just the beginning and it will take time to finish. But we think it has been worthwhile and it appears to be a success !! To date we have: 15,269 hits 12 counties represented 58 tax lists totalling 1,088 tax list images 32 tax list indexes with 14,441 names A pretty good year. Next year we start out with 3 more counties: Augusta, Bedford and Isle of Wight. And we'll continue to index as time permits. Please feel free to offer any corrections and suggestions. We would like to say a special "Thank You!!" to the county coordinators who have kindly linked our website on their county webpage. We definitely see an increased amount of traffic from those counties. And a very special "Thank You!!" to Rootsweb. Without your Freepages this project would not be possible!! We know how much space we've used, and realize this is just the tip of the iceberg. Happy New Year to all and Good Hunting!! Steve and Bunny P.S. I hope you have all been enjoying the Holidays and that each of you will have a wonderful new year. I've been absent from my duties with the Archives pages for a while and I just wanted to let you all know that I have not forgotten about them. I worked on them as hard as I could the first part of November, knowing that might be the last chance I'd get in a while, and it turned out to be true. So now my plan is to do my best to see to it that I get things caught up as soon as possible. During my trip back home over the Thanksgiving Holidays, I was able to visit some graveyards, and so have some new files to upload of my own as well. That's always exciting! My apologies to you all for the delay; as always your patience is highly appreciated. Thanks so much! Jeannie PS. For those of you who've written to me regarding my books, give me a bit more time to get back to you on those. Thank you so much for your interest and just as soon as I can get these archives straigtened out, I will be happy to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability. Thanks again, J Happy Holidays from the Watts' Family: Jeannie, Richard, Samantha, Jennifer and all our critters!!! ************* Now Available: "The Descendants of John Thomas Clay, Jamestown Immigrant and son of Sir John Clay of Wales" Also available: "The Descendants of James Bailey & Lucy Simms" For more info: http://www.trellis.net/users/madamx

Hello, I am trying to find an Elisha Chism, I believe he is the son of John Chism and Ellenor Gilletine. Elisha married a Wenny? I find them in Tn. 1803 to 1805, where Wenny was a member of the Spring Creek Church , she was their with Elijah and Lucy Clairborne Chism and thier daughter Elizabeth Chism who married Nimrod Dodson. Wenny was dismissed by letter in 1805, I loose them for 15 years and then pick them back up in Ark. Lawrence county, 1820, I believe also they had a son named Benjamin? Can someone check the 1800 cenus and archives for an Elisha Chism? Thanks vickie

The number 1 indicates how many male titheables there are in that household. Sorry I don't know anything about James Crowder but I do have other lists of titheables so I do know what the number indicates.
