    2. Ann Broadbent
    3. Posted on: Amelia County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amelia/10664 Surname: Yarborough, Proctor ------------------------- The following will of Richard Yarborough was made in England in 1639, as the earliest record that we have in the US for Richard Yarborough the immigrant was 1640, the Richard of this will (who is the one who md. Frances Proctor)is NOT our Richard Yarborough, the immigrant. This will was uncovered a couple of years ago by an English researcher, Peter Yerbergh, who is involved in an exhaustive ongoing search of the Yarborough family in England. As of this date, to my knowledge, no one has proven just who our Richard Yarborough was or which Yarborough family in England he came from. The Will of Richard Yarborough Dated 31st Oct. 1639 Proved Jan 1639/40 In the name of God Amen. The last day of Anno October dm 1639 Et Carolimn Angli drimo Quinto. And as touching my personall estate, first I give and bequeathe unto EDWARD YARBOROUGH, my youngest brother, twenty pounds to be payd unto him by myn executors within six months after he shall come forth out of his app'ntiship. Have you tried checking there and in Lunenburg and Brunswick counties, they were many there too. My interest is thatmy ancestors sister, Amy Ann Morgan B: 1792/95, Nottoway Co., VA (daughter Samuel Morgan/Lucy Wills) D Oct. 17, 1875, Nottoway Co.; was married by 1810, poss. Nottoway Co., Merriwether Hurt (son, Absalom Hurt & Sarah Stokes of Lunenburg Co.; married his 1st wife, Oct. 27, 1804, Prince Edward Co., Ann Redd, dau., John Redd, no issue) He was B: c.1782,37 north bank of the Great Nottoway River, near present Hwy. 40, Amelia Co., now Nottoway Co. D: 1828, Lunenburg Co., VA.; will, Lunenburg Co., Book 9, page 235 37; they had several children, of which I have some record, but no William F. Hurt or Elizabeth Hurt Perrin. However, I agree with you that most Hurts in that area are related. - Victor Crawford

    2. Walter S. Wingo
    3. My records indicate that my 3d great-grandmother was Sarah Faris HURT (1773-1854). She married William (Mill Creek Billy) FOSTER, who was born 24 May 1768 in Amelia Co. and died in 1840 in Spartanburg, SC. The Foster family moved from Amelia County to Spartanburg some time before 1784. One of the daughters of Sarah and William married an Isham HURT (or HART), and another married a Vernon HURT. Also, according to my data, my 5th great-grandaunt, Mary WINGO (b. 1726), married a HURT, but I don't have his first name. Surnames: Clements, Foster, Hurt, Lyon, Seay, Wingo Please let me know if you see any links to your lines. --Walter -----Original Message----- From: Sandra Hurtt Raviv [mailto:shraviv@cox.rr.com] Sent: Monday, March 12, 2001 7:36 PM To: VAAMELIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [VAAMELIA-L] Hurts in Amelia Posted on: Amelia County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Amelia/10659 Surname: Hurt, Barden, Morris ------------------------- I am interested in all the Hurts of Amelia County, VA. There were early landowners in the 1700's, but the name Hurt does not appear in any census after 1870, so they all appear to have left. My own ancestor, Wm. F. Hurt, was born about 1816 and married Martha Barden in 1838. She was the daughter of Thomas Barden and Mary Morris. Hughes Perrin witnessed their marriage; he was married to an Elizabeth Hurt, possibly a sibling of Wm. F. I suspect most Hurts were related, so I'd like to know the family trees of other Hurts in Amelia. Many thanks!

The only thing I know about where Isaac Morris came from is: to Isaac Morris of St. Martins Parish Hanover Co a land grant in 1741 of 800 acres--2 years later he sold the land to a Matthew Rice of St. Martins Parish Hanover County. He bought & sold land in Amelia Co. several times before he died in 1750. There were lots of Morrises---some in Prince George County area before part of it became Amelia Co in about 1735. But I don't know if they were kinfolk of my Isaac Morris.
