    1. [VAAMELIA-L] Re: Samuel Bentley, Will Dated 1784
    2. I believe a Samuel Bentley, b. 1714 in Virginia is the beginning of my lineage so far that I know. Then it picks up with a Samuel Bentley, b. 7/12/1772 in Halifax, VA, d. 1939 in Forsythe, GA, married on 9/25/1795 to a Nancy Legrand. I think their were two sons: Samuel W. Bentley (my great great great grandfather), b. 1804 in South Carolina; and John William Bentley, b 5/12/1807 in GA. I have quite a bit of Bentley history after this time but am trying to piece it all together. If you believe this may be part of your lineage, please e:mail me a.s.a.p. We can share some information and possibly fill in some holes.

    2. Jo Craddock
    3. Does anyone have a copy of Virginia Will Records compiled from WMQ, Tyler Quarterly, VMH that could scan a page for me? I've jotted down from somewhere (big genealogical boo-boo) a note that there's a FOXWELL v. CRADDOCK (it may also be under HAGUE) mention on page 631 of said book. I was at the library today, but it was busier than I've seen in a while, and this book wasn't on the shelf. Thank you, Jo Craddock mailto:jocraddock@stsams.org Baton Rouge LA USA

    1. [VAAMELIA-L] DNA study -- TRAYLOR
    2. Linda Sparks Starr
    3. I apologize for the cross-posting, but we want to get this announcement to everyone we can. Linda Efforts are now under way to launch DNA Y-chromosone tests within the Traylor family. We especially need volunteers who can trace their lineage back to 18th century sons of William and Edward Traylor in Henrico and Chesterfield Counties, VA. Only Traylor males who are direct line descendants can be tested for the Y-chromosone. We are also trying to contact English Traylors to see if we can set up links between them and our American Traylor family. The name is variously spelled Trayler, Trailer, or Trailor. If you have Traylor roots and are interested in this project, please contact the coordinator at nellab@cox-internet.com. For more information on DNA Y-chromosone testing for genealogical purposes, visit these websites: www.FamilyTreeDNA.com or, for one family's experience http://www.mumma.org/DNA.htm Linda Sparks Starr http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lksstarr

    1. [VAAMELIA-L] Re: wood ancestors
    2. Hi Ralph, Was indeed Mary Wood who married to Hopkins Muse in 1767, Amelia County. I do alot of my research at the Library of Va. and have many copies of records about my families from Amelia as well as other places. I also have a copy of a deed of Mary listed as Molly Muse giving land to her son-in-law, Thomas Carter. Nancy and Thomas Green had at least 8 children. The Foster was indeed married to another daughter, They had a daughter Elizabeth who married to married to Joseph Haskew in 1807. If you notice in William Wood's will are mention of Haskew, alot of Haskews around Amelia area and several seem to be connected. The Joseph Haskew I mention above was the son of Joseph Haskew and Sarah Wood. Beth
