Might as well add my two cents to this discussion. I'm sure many of you are aware that the term "liquor" does not necessarily mean the alcoholic kind but may refer to many types of liquids used for various purposes. In this line it seems likely that it may have been a type of embalming liquid or "liquor". How it was used is another subject for discussion. Maybe there is a geriatric funeral director among us that can contribute.
