I am searching for the wife of my 4th great grandfather William HUGHES of Amherst Co, Va. I have records that indicate he married a Susannah (Last Name Unknown) and lived in the Harris Creek area of Amherst. He died in 1802. I have found records of a marriage between a William HUGHES and Susannah BOWLES that took place in St. James Northam Parish, Goochland, Va on 10 APR 1775. Records also place this couple in Albermerle Co (parent county of Amherst). Susannah BOWLES was born ABT 1740 in Hanover Co, Va and her parents were Benjamin BOWLES and Nancy (LNU). She also had a relative of Thomas BOWLES. A newspaper obit states Ms. Susannah HUGHES died on 6 JUN 1830 in Amherst Co at the age of 102 years.
